Mitsubishi Estate acquired the Kokusai Shin-Akasaka Building in Akasaka, Minato-ku, Tokyo. The company also owns a hotel adjacent to the East Building of the office complex, making the total land area of these properties 14,308 m2. The seller is a special purpose company formed by the Lone Star Group and price is roughly 90 billion yen including surrounding plots, reportedly.

The East Building has 25 floors above ground and three below with 47,698 m2 of total floor space. It was completed in 1980. The West Building has 19 floors above ground and three below with 33,347 m2 of total floor space. It was also completed in 1980.

Trading company Sojitz currently has its head office in both the East Building and the West Building and will relocate to the Iino Building, which is under construction in Uchisaiwaicho, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, around the summer of 2012.

The location of the property that Mitsubishi Estate acquired is designated as a Commercial District that straddles plots with floor-area ratios of 500% and 600%. The company did not disclose its plans for the property.
